Women's Suffrage in Kuwait

"It is about time." So said Lulua al-Mulla, general secretary of the Social Cultural Women's Society in Kuwait of the decision of the Kuwaiti parliament yesterday to grant women the right to vote and to run for office. (Read the New York Times story here.) Kuwait thus joins a long progression of the world's states, beginning with New Zealand in 1893, recognizing the right of women to vote.
